About Paola

Paola Mannaro holds a yoga teacher's certificate (TTC 200) which was awarded by The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in 2009 and is recognised by the Yoga Alliance.

Teacher training was for one month in Jai Singh Ghera ashram in the holy city of Vrindaban, Uttar Pradesh, India. The program included study of hindu texts, Vedic Philosophy, chanting and meditation as well as asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing practises) and cleansing practises (shat karmas).

Pilgrimage

Paola undertook a further 3 months of yoga and spiritual training in India in 2009 as follows :

Visited Mathura, the birthplace of Krishna.

Stayed at the Swami Keshabananda Ashram and Samadhi Mandir of Lahiri Mahasaya ( Kriya Yoga Tradition ) in the holy city of Haridwar.

Visited the Samadhi Mandir of Swami Sivananda in Rishikesh, on the banks of the river Ganges ( Ganga ).

Visited the Samadhi Mandir of Anandamayi Maa in Kankhal and met with Swami Vijayananda.

Stayed in the town of McLeod Ganj, home to His Holiness The Dalai Lama, and to The Tibetan Government in Exile. Lodgings were at the Kirti Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies whilst being granted visits to several of the Venerable Monks and to Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo ( Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery) in the Kangra Valley.

Attended a series of lectures on The Four Noble Truths by Chamtrul Rinpoche Lobsang Gyatso of Kagyeling Nyingma Monastery, McLeod Ganj.

Visited Chausat Yogini Temple at Jabalpur ( Bhedagat )

2010
Vrindaban, Northern India. Visited Kathyayani Peetha, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, and other temples.

Varanasi, Northern India. Visited Kashi Vishvanath Temple and other temples.

Kolkata, West Bengal : A centre of worship to the Goddess Kali. Visited the famous temples of Kali Ghat and Dakshineshwar.
Also in Kolkata : Visited the blessed disciples of Sri Anirvan, a hindu saint and scholar : Sri Gautam and Smt Gouri Dharmapal.
